LEARNING COMMONS DEFINED
Over the last few years our Library has been transformed into a Learning Commons. What does that mean? A learning Commons combines researching, technology tinkering and teaching to allow students to grow and learn in many ways. Yes, they will still be checking our books. The library holdings are a big part of what we do. But books will now be supplemented with I-pads, chromebooks, maker spaces, and other materials.
Learning activities use physical and virtual learning commons environments. Students will develop their questions, look for answers via many resources and then use their knowledge to complete an activity. Making uses all of a child's knowledge to create the project. This new way of learning builds critical thinking skills. It's also fun!
